Our History

It has been a long journey to get to this point of the business. A whole lot of hard work, enduring passion, and support from friends and family has gotten the business to where it is today. Growing and supplying Palms and plants on this scale has been a dream of Philip’s for many years! However, sharing his passion and love for rare, unique Palms has always been the main driver.

From Landscaping in the 1990’s to growing and selling Palms from a backyard greenhouse, the passion grew and so did the greenhouses! So here we are at Eumundi Palms. After years in the industry and growing on a relatively small scale, it came a time to evolve into bigger and better things!

Philip Redhead
— Owner & Director

As a young boy, Philip spent many Sundays with his parents and grandparents touring the Sydney Botanical Gardens. This is where his fascination with unusual plants began.

Phil has always had a clear vision when planning his own gardens, clients’ gardens and now the Nursery. Phil’s passion for Palm trees and the natural world is evident in what he does.

With 28 years of industry experience and growing Palms, Phil has a wealth of knowledge in all things horticulture. From humble beginnings, growing Palms in a small backyard greenhouse, landscaping and designing gardens and pools in the 90’s.

Philip has persisted in what can be a difficult industry. He credits this to his enduring passion and love for Palms. Also, a special mention to the fellow Nurserymen and growers who have become true friends and motivators over the years!

Phil – Owner and Director
Chambeyronia varieties

“No way! I couldn’t possibly choose one. However, I can’t go past the Chambeyronia varieties. I’ve always loved red leafed Palms.”

Nathan – Nursery Production Manager
Cocos nucifera (coconut palm)

“I have always loved the tropical look of coconuts. They have the classic Palm lines, instantly turn any garden into a tropical oasis. Also, the actual coconuts are so healthy and useful, it is the tropical tree of life.”

Jayce – Nurseryman and Horticulturist
Licuala ramsayi

“This Queensland native is the archetypical Palm of the tropical north. Seeing this Palm with its large pinwheel fronds instantly conjures up images of tropical holidays and walking through the rainforest.”

Tayla – Office Manager
Bismarckia nobilis

“Anything with a fan leaf! But I love Bismarckia’s massive, architectural, silver fronds. It is the perfect statement Palm.”

Belinda – Accounts
Areca triandra

“Ooh, Areca triandra, green form, for its’ elegant clumping nature and it’s amazing flower, which has the sweetest perfume.”
